Aftercare

Meetings are not just for returning individuals — these are community meetings where members of the community come together to work with each other to improve the neighborhood. The outcome is expected to be much greater when transitional housing is provided. Outcomes are measurable changes in behavior after release from incarceration. Programs considered most effective reduce recidivism by about ten to fifteen percent and up to twenty percent. Research reveals a higher success rate with post release programs, including consistent meetings, transitional housing, support and continuing education components. New Beginning Alliance believes it can reduce recidivism of participants by at least fifty percent. The first housing facility will accommodate fourteen men at a time. The expected length of stay is from nine months to a year. A participant exiting transitional housing creates an opening for another participant. This facility will accommodate an average of twenty-eight men per year. Other locations are planned to house more men and women as the program grows and success is established. Forward thinking will allow expansion of this program quickly as results further prove the model.
